Aromatic Chai Tea Latte

Chai tea embodies the essence of autumn, and the act of simmering it fills your home with an inviting aroma that far surpasses the fleeting fragrance of scented candles. With each sip, you’ll find a warm embrace of spices that evoke the spirit of the season. Beyond its delightful scent, chai tea is full with antioxidants and a gentle boost of caffeine, making it an ideal way to start your day.
In this recipe, we’ll use our own cinnamon and honey to create a subtly sweet balance, which adds a depth of flavour without the need for steeping cinnamon sticks.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups water
- 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 5 cardamom pods, slightly crushed
- 5 whole cloves
- 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
- 2 tablespoons loose black tea (or 2 tea bags)
- ¼ cup cinnamon & honey (adjust to taste)
- Milk of your choice (dairy, almond, oat, etc.) for frothing
Directions:
- In a medium pot, bring 3 cups of water to a rolling boil.
- Once boiling, add the black peppercorns, crushed cardamom pods, cloves, and sliced ginger. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer gently on low for 15 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse their flavors.
- After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and add the loose black tea along with the honey and ground cinnamon. Let the mixture steep for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the tea to absorb the rich spices.
- While the tea is steeping, froth your choice of milk until light and airy.
- Strain the spiced tea into a cup, filling it about three-quarters full. Top off with the frothed milk, and stir gently to combine.
- Enjoy your homemade chai tea, wrapped in the cozy aromas of fall.
