Caramelized Onions
Share
Caramelized onions are a game-changer. They can transform a simple sandwich or burger into something gourmet, add a rich touch to flatbreads or tartlets, and make the perfect smear on a charcuterie board—pairing beautifully with meats, cheeses, fruits, and veggies. But here’s the thing: getting them just right takes time. Onions naturally have sugar, and caramelizing them brings that sweetness to the forefront, but we like to give it a little extra kick with a drizzle of hot honey. Trust us, it’s worth it.
This method is about as easy as it gets—just set it and forget it in a crockpot. Low and slow is the secret to caramelization, and this recipe makes it simple.
Makes about 1 cup
Ingredients:
- 8 yellow onions, diced
- 1/8 cup Hot Honey
- Dash of salt and pepper
- 1/8 cup white wine
Directions:
- Toss all the ingredients into your slow cooker.
- Set it to low and let it cook for about 6 hours.
- Give it a stir halfway through to keep things moving.
And that’s it! You’ll end up with a sweet, savory spread that’s perfect for almost anything. Enjoy!
